Description
The Teens beginner sewing classes are designed especially for 13- to 17-year-old students who would like to learn how to use a sewing machine. The course is made up of 10 classes which run over five 2-hour sessions. The Teens Beginner classes introduce students to essential knowledge and skills to give them confidence and a solid foundation for future sewing ventures. By the end of the 10 lessons, students will know the parts of a sewing machine and what they do, how to safely use a sewing machine and sewing equipment, how to use and adjust a range of stitches, the basics of reading an easy pattern, and types of fabrics suited to different projects. Students will complete 2-3 fun projects over the five sessions. Project options include: a pin cushion. tote bag, cushion, elasticised shorts, pillow case, pencil case, tool roll, apron, patchwork placemat.
Classes are limited so that every teen receives 1:1 support. Attendance is flexible, and you can pay weekly or book a block of classes.
Included in the classes for each student:
- 10 lessons
- sewing machine hire (if needed)
- a personal sewing kit to use and keep. Valued at over $50!
- a display book with reference information and patterns
- All fabrics and threads needed for the projects
- Light snacks and drinks
