The ‘Tweens beginner sewing course is designed especially for 9- to 12-year-old students who would like to learn how to use a sewing machine. The course introduces the student to parts of the sewing machine, how to use and adjust straight and zig zag stitches, the basics of reading an easy pattern, and types of fabrics. Students will complete 2-3 simple projects over five sessions that involve hand and machine sewing.

• -sewing machine hire (if needed)
• -Personal sewing kit to use and keep (e.g. fabric scissors, quick unpick, needles, pins, measuring tape,)
• -Display books with reference information
• -Fabrics and threads used in the projects
• -A light snacks and drinks
